2003-2004 Proof Gold 1 Pound Coin Set Heraldic Beasts & Bridges 8 Coin Set Boxed

This Royal Mint Set combines 2004 Pattern Beasts and 2003 Bridges sets and contains eight £1 coins in total. It is boxed, certificated, and presented in a blue velvet case with engraved brass plate and certificate.

The Gold Proof 2004 Four-Coin One-Pound Pattern Collection contains four gold £1 coins, featuring the Scottish Unicorn, Welsh Dragon, Northern Ireland's White Hart and the English Lion, all designed by Timothy Noad - a regular artisan for Royal Mint coinage.

The Bridges Pattern collection contains four gold £1 coins featuring bridges of the UK, which at the time were all forerunners to a new series of designs for the £1 coin. The four featured bridges are the Forth Bridge, the Menai Bridge, the Egyptian Arch Bridge and the Millennium Bridge.

These proof £1 gold coins have a plain edge (to continue the custom of striking plain-edged specimens for coin collectors) apart from a hallmark which guarantees their status as Royal Mint patterns. The obverse of these gold £1 coins contain the inscription 'PATTERN' where they would normally have the words "ONE POUND".
