A 1986 tenth ounce American Eagle gold coin. This is the first year in which American Eagles were produced.
The obverse design of the Gold Eagle features Liberty with flowing hair, holding a torch and an olive branch was produced by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. The reverse features a male eagle carrying an olive branch, protecting a nest containing a female eagle and her hatchlings was designed by Miley Busiek. The mintage of tenth ounce eagles for 1986 was 912,609 coins.
