Description

The 2026 Quarter Sovereign is a British gold coin, minted by the Royal Mint. The weight of the coin is 1.997 grams with a fineness of 916.7 (22 carat gold), this means it contains 1.8306 grams of pure gold. The diameter of the coin is 13.5 mm. The Quarter Sovereigns have a face value of 25 Pence (1/4 of a Pound) and are legal tender in the UK.

The 2026 gold Quarter Sovereign marks a new chapter in this historic coin series, with a return to a yellow-gold alloy, and new design with advanced security features. The reverse uses the classic George & Dragon design by Pistrucci surrounded by new micro-text with the inscription 'HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE', the motto of the Order of the Garter. The obverse of the coin includes the official portrait of King Charles III by Martin Jennings, while a new latent image below the monarch's effigy and a half-tone pattern provide additional authentication measures.
