Description

The 2026 1/4oz Year of the Horse Proof gold coin from The Royal Mint's Shēngxiào Collection series of lunar coins.

This coin celebrates the Year of the Horse and the reverse of the coin features a design by William Webb of a thoroughbred horse galloping on the cobblestones of a British stable block. The obverse of the coin features the official portrait of His Majesty King Charles III by Martin Jennings, as well as the coin's face value.

The horse in Chinese astrology is considered to be powerful and energetic, and those born under the horse are considered independent, brave, and full of vivacity. These coins would make a perfect gift for anyone born in the years 1930, 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002, 2014, or 2026.

This 2026 Year of the Horse proof quarter ounce (7.78g) coin is struck in 999.9 pure gold. It is presented in a handsome presentation box and comes with a certificate of authenticity and full colour booklet on the Chinese lunar horse.
