"The 2026 1oz Lochness Monster coin is a British gold coin, minted by the Royal Mint. The weight of the coin is 31.21 grams with a fineness of 999.9 (24 carat gold), this means it contains 31.10348 grams of pure gold. The diameter of the coin is 32.69mm. The gold Lochness Monster coins have a face value of 100 Pounds and are legal tender in the UK.

The Lochness Monster has been Scotland's most famous mystery for generations. Sightings stretch back centuries, but the legend truly took off in 1934 with the infamous 'surgeon's photograph', and Nessie has been lurking in the public imagination ever since.

Now, the Royal Mint brings this elusive creature to life as the first release in its Legendary Creatures coin series. Part folklore, part fine art, and entirely precious, this coin marks a stunning debut for what promises to be an exceptional collectible coin series.

The reverse features Dan Thorne's evocative design, with the monster rising majestically from the loch and the ruins of Urquhart Castle silhouetted in the background. The inscription 'LOCHNESS MONSTER' arcs across the top, while '1oz 999.9 FINE GOLD 2026' grounds the piece at the bottom.

The obverse show’s the classic King Charles III portrait by Martin Jennings with the legend 'CHARLES III·D·G·REX·FD·100 POUNDS'
