The 2026 50p Eye of Sauron - 25th anniversary of The Lord of the Rings Proof Gold Coin, celebrates a quarter of a century since The Lord of the Rings first arrived on big screen. Released by The Royal Mint, it is the first coin in a seven-coin collection inspired by the iconic film trilogy.

Presented in bespoke packaging, the release explores the history and creation of the One Ring - the object at the centre of the story and Sauron's enduring influence over Middle-earth.

The reverse design features the Eye of Sauron framed within the One Ring, alongside an innovative caustic effect that projects the ring's inscription when exposed to light. The obverse features the official portrait of King Charles III by Martin Jennings.

The 2026 50 pence Eye of Sauron - 25th anniversary of The Lord of the Rings Proof Gold Coin, has a face value of 50 pence and is struck in 22ct gold. Limited Edition of 100.
