There was no bullion coin minted in 1996 - only 7,500 coins were issued. This 1996 proof sovereign in mint condition. This coin features the third portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Maklouf - this year was issued in proof form only. This proof has been struck using specially selected blanks and highly polished dies. During striking, the coinage dies exert enormous pressure on the coin blank, with at least two separate blows (or strikes), ensuring that the impression has extra clarity. No box or certificate is provided with this.
