A 1937 Proof gold Sovereign from the reign of George VI with a mintage of only 5,500. This was the only year that George VI sovereigns were minted making them a rare coin in the series. The coin is proof on the obverse and is smooth rather than milled on the edge.
Originally issued only in a four-coin Sovereign set, the George VI 1937 is incredibly rare and collectible. There are some slight hairline marks but we rarely see such good condition examples. You will receive the actual coin pictured, so please zoom into the coin to see the detail.
