Description

This five pound gold Proof coin, issued in 2015, celebrates Queen Elizabeth II achieving the record of being the longest reigning Monarch. Surpassing the previous record held by Queen Victoria.

This gold five pound coin contains well over one ounce of gold (36.61 grams of fine gold) and is struck in 22-carat. It was designed on both sides by James Butler, who is best known as the designer of the Queen's Great Seal of the Realm. Unusually, it doesn't feature the official portrait of the Queen, instead using Butler's take on Her Majesty on the obverse and a depiction of the St. Edward's Crown, worn for coronations, on the reverse.

This coin is presented in a very luxurious and attractive box-set, with a numbered certificate of Authenticity issued by the Royal Mint. Production was limited to 1500 sets.
