Description

A very special 1989 Quintuple Sovereign to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the Gold Sovereign. The Royal Mint had an issue limit of 10,000 coins, with 7,936 produced.

The Five Pound Gold Coin - sometimes referred to as the Quintuple Sovereign - contains 36.6 grams of gold (Five times the weight of a Gold Sovereign). This version was struck to Brilliant Uncirculated condition for a beautiful finish.

The design, by Bernard Sindall, shows Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse side, sat on the throne in a style mimicking that of Elizabeth I. The reverse is very similar to the original English Sovereigns too, with the Royal Arms overlaid on a double Tudor rose with a crown above.

This 1989 Brilliant Uncirculated Five Sovereign coin comes boxed with a certificate.
