A 1979 gold Proof Sovereign coin from The Royal Mint.
This coin weighs the same as a regular sovereign, at 7.98 grams and 22-carat gold (91.67% fineness). This proof coin has been struck using specially selected blanks and highly polished dies. During striking, the coinage dies exert enormous pressure on the coin blank, with at least two separate blows (or strikes), ensuring that the impression has extra clarity.
The 1979 gold Proof Sovereign comes bound in a good-looking case. Please note that the mint did not issue certificates with its proof sovereigns until 1980.
Orders to Ireland will be sent via Colissimo (DPD/An Post) with an optional upgrade to FedEx. Parcels are dispatched from within the EU.
